PEORIA, Ill. – A delivery van driver from Oak Park was cited after a crash in a construction zone on Maxwell Road Tuesday morning.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office says the van was southbound just after 10:45 A.M. when it reportedly veered into gravel on the right, causing the driver to overcorrect.
The van crossed into the northbound lane, which was closed and under construction, and struck an excavator. Deputies say the excavator operator was ejected, but only suffered a hand injury and a cut to the head.
The delivery van driver was cited for Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid and Accident, and Injuring a Worker in a Construction Zone.
