PEORIA, Ill. – A non-Bradley University student was arrested after a shooting on campus early Sunday morning.
Peoria and Bradley Police responded near Geisert Hall just before 2:15 A.M.
The university says 911 calls were received indicating friends of the victim, an 18-year-old female non-Bradley student, were attempting to take her to a hospital via private vehicle.
The vehicle was spotted in the area of Nebraska and Underhill. The female suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Three people connected to the incident were taken in for questioning, with 19-year-old Edward Traywick of Lansing, IL was arrested. Police say he is charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon, No FOID, Possession of a Firearm Under 21, and Reckless Discharge. Traywick was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
The university says Traywick and the victim were both guests of a Bradley student.
Bradley says there is no ongoing threat to campus. Peoria Police is leading the shooting investigation.
