PEORIA, Ill. – A high-profile murder trial in Peoria is causing some closures around the Peoria County Courthouse.
The Sean Grayson murder trial, which was moved from Springfield to Peoria earlier this year, is scheduled to start on Monday. Grayson served as a Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Sonya Massey in July of last year.
The county says that during the trial, the 200 and 300 blocks of Main Street and the 300 block of Hamilton is closed to through traffic during the day, but reopened at night.
The county says there will be no metered parking on streets surrounding the courthouse, and the Hamilton Parking Deck is closed to the public.
The courthouse will remain open for business during the trial. But the county is encouraging people to complete any needed business online or over the phone.
