PEORIA, Ill. – Another person has been charged in connection to unrest that occurred following a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown Peoria.
Peoria Police say 29-year-old Torrance Barber was arrested Wednesday night for Theft and Obstruction of Justice in the area of Greenlawn and Starr.
Barber allegedly stole a police officer’s magazine and ammunition during the shooting at Main and Monroe, but were reportedly recovered after Barber’s arrest.
Five other people have been charged with Aggravated Battery in connection to alleged actions that impeded police from assisting a 24-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.
In a statement, Police Chief Eric Echevarria says detectives worked “tirelessly” to find Barber, and vows anyone who interferes with or attacks police will face the same outcome.
