PEORIA, Ill – A number of traffic stops were conducted Thursday by the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Seventy-eight of them to be exact.
It was the latest countywide traffic detail funded by an Illinois Department Transportation grant.
The sheriff’s office, in a Facebook post, said deputies issued a lot of tickets for speeding.
But there were six arrests and seven vehicles were impounded.
Several DUI’s were issued, one involving a traffic accident. There were two drug arrests for meth and crack cocaine.
The sheriff’s office said deputies focused on Route 24, Route 29, Route 40, Airport Road, the West Peoria area and the Bellevue area.
