PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices in Peoria have dropped less than a penny a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.30 on Monday, according to GasBuddy.
Peoria’s prices are 3.8 cents lower than a month ago and 43 cents lower than this time last year.
GasBuddy price reports show the cheapest price for gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.07 a gallon and the most expensive gas was $3.49. The lowest price in the state was $2.74 a gallon and the highest price was $4.69.
National gas prices have dropped 2.7 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.08 on Monday. That’s down seven cents a gallon from a month ago and over 32 cents lower than a year ago.
“After rising for two straight weeks, the national average price of gasoline saw a slight decline in the last week as oil prices fell below $64 per barrel, paving the way for prices to ease in most states,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
“Price-cycling markets again saw the largest weekly swings, with Florida and Michigan cycling upward, while Indiana and Ohio experienced sharp declines but may be due for jumps this week. As we approach the peak of hurricane season, forecasts are showing favorable conditions for tropical development, so we’ll be watching closely for any potential impact on supply and prices as Labor Day nears,” De Haan says.
Meanwhile, AAA Illinois says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area on Monday was $3.30 a gallon, the state average price was $3.37, and the national average price of unleaded gas was $3.13.
