PEORIA, Ill. – The Teamsters have filed lawsuits in Peoria and New Jersey against a supplier of gas products for alleged treatment of striking workers.
In a statement, the labor union alleges that Airgas released unidentified chemical agents on picketing Teamsters in Peoria and Oakland, New Jersey last month.
It says that is a “potentially deliberate attempt to intimidate, threaten, and harm workers lawfully exercising their rights.”
A strike of Airgas workers began in June in Cleveland and New Jersey, and expanded to other locations across the country, including Peoria.
