PEORIA, Ill. – Work can now move forward to repair the Riverview Plaza building in downtown Peoria.
City Manager Patrick Urich says MJ Illinois’s owner has placed $500,000 in an escrow account.
The money was due this week. It is part of a deal struck with the city last month to try to make needed repairs to reopen the building and avoid fines and code violations issued.
Urich says work will be done on the fire suppression system, and is estimated to be completed by February of 2026.
The building has been closed since February of last year after a water main pipe broke and spilled water through the building.
