PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Stadium Dome is nearing completion after the district says it has been successfully inflated.
A district spokeswoman says the dome, located next to Peoria Stadium, was inflated successfully on July 28th. Construction on the $8 million dome started in September 2024, with grant money funding half of its costs.
The dome is planned as a multi-sport, all-weather training facility for PPS athletic teams. The dome will support practice fields and more for football, soccer, baseball, softball, and golf teams.
Work still to be done includes building the lobby, installing turf, scoreboards, and sound equipment.
The district says a grand opening for the public is planned for October.
