EL PASO, Ill. – Woodford County authorities have made one arrest after a man allegedly barricaded himself in a residence after firing a shot at a woman.
Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword says authorities received a call about a domestic situation on Pine Street in El Paso at 10:36 a.m. Saturday.
Reports indicated a man, identified as Derrico Quinn, 36, displayed a handgun and fired one shot in the direction the woman. El Paso and Eureka police along with Woodford County deputies arrived and determined the woman was not injured and was able to escape.
Quinn then barricaded himself in the residence and was believed to be still in possession of the weapon.
The Central Illinois Emergency Response Team (CIERT) was called and a perimeter was maintained around the scene.
Tipsword said numerous attempts were made to call Quinn out of the house while the CIERT team arrived.
Once the CIERT team arrived, a surround and call out tactic was performed and two windows into the residence were breached.
Quinn eventually made contact with police and indicated he would come out of the residence.
Quinn was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Woodford County Jail and booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a weapon by a felon.
The investigation continues and Tipsword says there may be more charges against Quinn.
