PEORIA, Ill. – A new initiative aims to renovate homes on Peoria’s South Side to prepare them for new owners.
The Peoria Opportunities Foundation and the Southside Community Center announced the project Monday for the 61605 ZIP code.
The goal is to renovate up to seven single-family homes to create ownership opportunities for low-income families.
“We believe that real change starts by listening to the voices of the community. This project is not just about renovating homes, it’s about building trust and honoring the desires of Southside families,” said Peoria Opportunities Foundation Executive Director Irina Riggenbach.
The project is being funded by the Peoria City/County Health Department.
The Peoria Opportunities Foundation is also working on Churchview Garden Homes, a 47-unit development for the South Side.
