PEORIA, Ill. – A new major being launched at Bradley University combines engineering with the arts.
Starting in the fall 2025 semester, Bradley will offer Entertainment Engineering.
It will focus on structural engineering for theatrical productions that include hydraulics and motor and winch design.
Department of Theatre Arts chairperson Chad Lowell tells 25 News that it prepares students for behind-the-scenes careers for television, theme parks, and even Cirque du Soleil.
“We have a top engineering program in the country, and so if we could get fully certified engineers who understand the lingo and how to put together a theater show, these are students that are now employable coming straight out of undergrad, close to six figures,” Lowell said.
Students will earn either a Bachelor of Science or Arts, along with an accredited Bachelor of Science in engineering.
