PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria restaurant is temporarily closed after smoke filled the dining area Tuesday afternoon.
Peoria Fire says crews were called to the Mission BBQ on Sterling just before 1:45 P.M.
Smoke without a fire was found, and it was determined there was a mechanical failure of an HVAC unit on the roof. Peoria Fire says the cause was determined to be a coolant line leaking into the HVAC system.
Fire crews were able to isolate the power to prevent further damage, and multiple fans were used to vent the building.
Peoria Fire says the Health Department responded and investigated. The restaurant was temporarily closed as of 3:15 P.M. Tuesday for the investigation.
There were no injuries.
