PEORIA, Ill. – Three teenagers have been arrested after two of them were accidentally shot Tuesday night in Peoria’s East Bluff.
Peoria Police says officers responded just after 9:00 P.M. to the area of McClure and Atlantic on reports of two people shot.
A 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the leg was found, as well as a 14-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the hand. Their injuries were considered non-life-threatening.
Police reportedly learned the male had a firearm in his pocket and accidentally discharged, striking him and the female.
Police say a search of the residence reportedly turned up two firearms and a large amount of stolen merchandise. A 15-year-old male was questioned and soon arrested for Possession of a Firearm Under 21, No FOID, Possession of Ammunition Under 21, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was released to the custody of a parent.
The 14-year-old was arrested for Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Under 21, and No FOID. Police say he will be taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center upon release from medical care.
The 16-year-old was arrested in connection to a business burglary.
