CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The days have gotten cooler with a little more rain falling, but portions of central Illinois remain dry.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor report released Thursday shows nearly all of Tazewell and Woodford Counties in “abnormally dry” conditions.
Most of Peoria County is also “abnormally dry,” with around 70% of the county with those conditions.
Conditions are relatively worse in Fulton County, where around 81% of the country is experiencing “moderate drought.”
Across Illinois, around 67% of the state is still in “abnormally dry” conditions, with 13% experiencing “moderate drought.” The worst conditions in Illinois are being felt in the west-central portion, which has been the case for most of the spring and summer.
