PEORIA, Ill. – Another rally in Peoria amid the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine.
One reportedly happened over the weekend – another Wednesday, near Campustown and Bradley University.
The concern at the latest rally: Palestinians.
“It’s very difficult to call this a war, because they are targeting the original inhabitants of the land as an occupier,” said Imam Mazhar Mahmood of the Islamic Foundation of Peoria, to 25 News. “The majority of the population that has been consumed by this are children and people who are under 18-years-old. In other words, putting an end to the next generation.”
Many of those rallying chanted things like “Free Palestine”, but all wanted an end to the fighting, many of whom blamed the war on Israel.
“Everyone wants to defend their side, their country; but, we have to think about, you know, the innocent,” said Palestinian supporter Adam Kattom, also to 25 News.
President Joe Biden is to address the nation on the conflict in Israel Thursday night. You can hear the address on 1470 & 100.3 WMBD, and wmbdradio.com, starting at 7:00 p.m.
