PEORIA, Ill. – Your water might taste a little different over the next couple weeks.
Illinois American Water says starting Thursday through October 29th, a temporary change will take place in how water is treated. It will use a “free chlorine” which does not contact ammonia.
“Free chlorine” is a stronger disinfectant that is used in part with flushing water mains and fire hydrants.
The utility says the taste and odor of water may be different during the changes, but that there is no reason for concern.
Anyone with health concerns and needs purified or filtered water is asked to contact their healthcare provider.
