SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – One proposed Carbon Dioxide pipeline that was planned to go through Illinois, and close to, but not in Peoria is out, while opposition continues to one that would go through the area.
As it reportedly has done in other states, Navigator CO2 Tuesday filed with the Illinois Commerce Commission to withdraw its application for such a pipeline that, according to the original plans, would have traveled through parts of Knox, Fulton, and Henry Counties, among other places close to here, but wouldn’t have gone through the Tri-Counties.
The company says in the filing it’s re-assessing the route, and other aspects of the plan.
Meantime, opposition grows to a similar pipeline that would go through Peoria and Tazewell Counties, among other areas.
A Peoria Heights-based attorney Tuesday filed on behalf of a local family, a motion to dismiss Wolf Carbon Solutions’ application, saying it doesn’t meet various aspects of state law (CLICK HERE for a map of the proposed route).
The Peoria County State’s Attorney plans to intervene in that case.
