CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Drought conditions have returned to central Illinois.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor report lists all of Tazewell and Woodford Counties in “moderate” drought. Most of Peoria County is also in moderate drought, at 85.84% of the county. The remaining portion of the county around the northern border is listed as “abnormally dry.”
Last week, all three counties were “abnormally dry.”
Across Illinois, drought conditions are also increasing. This week, 28.65% of the state has at least “moderate” drought, with the worst conditions along the Wisconsin border and in west-central Illinois. Last week, 21.19% percent of the state was in moderate drought.
“Abnormally dry” conditions are in 85.27% of Illinois, up 5% from last week.
