PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man who killed a woman and tried to hide her body in East Peoria will spend the rest of his life in prison.
According to court documents, natural life in prison is what a Peoria County judge gave Thursday afternoon to Christopher Sanders, 45, after a jury in June convicted Sanders of First Degree Murder.
Sanders, in the words of Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos back in June, “literally beat the life out of” Mona Ellison, 50, whose body was found in late-January of 2021 in an East Peoria alley.
Court records indicate the judge also denied a motion for a new trial in the case.
And, for the second week in a row, Sanders refused to leave his jail cell for the proceeding.
