CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Drought conditions remain unchanged in Illinois, despite record heat blanketing the state.
The latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows levels are about the same as the previous week.
Woodford County is drought-free, while around 40% of Peoria County in the southwestern portion is abnormally dry. About 80% of Tazewell County is abnormally dry, with the northern portion drought-free.
Across the state, around 72% of Illinois is still experiencing at least abnormally dry conditions. The most drought affected areas of the state are in the west-central and northern portions.
