PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called early Tuesday morning to a home in the area of SW Jefferson and Adams in Peoria.
Fire Battalion Chief Tom Sander said they arrived just before 4:30 a.m., finding smoke coming from the home’s attic and were able to locate the fire in a rear wall and the ceiling with thermal imaging.
Two residents got out before the fire department arrived.
Smoke and water caused damage to most of the home. The Red Cross was called in to assist the residents with temporary housing.
An investigator said the cause of the blaze was electrical. Damage was estimated at $20,000.
