PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is pleading guilty to charges he shot at a police officer who was trying to break up a fight two years ago, almost to the day.
Peoria County Court records indicate Tyrell Logan, 35, pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of Aggravated Battery. In exchange, prosecutors dropped two other counts of Aggravated Battery, and counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Logan fired at a Peoria Police officer who responded to Taft Homes August 1, 2021, after a call of a fight.
Reports indicate the officer, after being shot in the leg, ran in the direction of the shots, finding Logan, who himself had been shot.
Logan will be sentenced September 28th, and could still get up 60 years in prison.
