PEORIA, Ill. – A child was injured and a Central Peoria home suffered extensive damage following a late-morning fire Sunday.
Peoria firefighters went to the home on Albany Avenue, near Finnell, around 10:30 Sunday morning.
According to Battalion Chief Steve Rada, crews say they saw heavy fire and smoke coming from the front of the home, cutting a hole in the roof to ventilate it as they put the blaze out.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Meanwhile, a child was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, and is expected to be okay.
Damage was estimated at $75,000.
