PEORIA, Ill. – We’re right in the heart of fair season across Illinois, so it only makes sense that the annual Heart of Illinois Fair is right in there.
The fair kicked off Tuesday and runs through Saturday at the Expo Gardens.
And for Jazlyne Chappel’s kids, the fair couldn’t come soon enough.
“My daughter loves the rides,” Chappel said to 25 News. “Every day she’s asked about [the fair] and I’m like it’s not here yet!”
Minors are not allowed in the fair after 9:00 p.m., and Peoria Police say they will have a good-sized presence on the fairgrounds all week. Chief Eric Echevarria says, as always, he wants everyone to have a good time with the food, games, carnival rides, and entertainment, but the police won’t be your babysitter
“We’re not their parents, the police department is not the father and mother of these kids,” Echevarria said to 25 News. “Know where your kids are, know what time they should be home, and keep track of them.”
