PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man convicted last month in connection with a fatal crash in late 2021 is getting almost as much as he could have in prison.
Court records say Darien Davis, 33, was handed a 31 year prison sentence Tuesday on charges of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Homicide, and Aggravated Street Racing. He reportedly could have received 40 years in prison.
The crash near Sterling and Gale Avenues the weekend of Labor Day in 2021 killed Jacqueline McDuffie, 50, a few weeks after the crash. Debbie Smith, 64, died about a year later due to complications the crash caused.
A third woman was also injured.
