PEORIA, Ill. – The special police detail that Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria put at downtown Peoria bars after a previous weekend of fights and gunshots made at least one arrest.
Police say it happened before 11:30 Saturday night on Southwest Water Street, when they say officers saw a group of people walking away from their vehicles with open containers of alcohol in their hands.
At least one vehicle allegedly had more open containers in it, and a second vehicle allegedly had a loaded gun.
When the group returned to their vehicles, police say they arrested 31-year-old Devin Boyd on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid FOID Card.
Boyd remains in the Peoria County Jail.
