PEORIA, Ill. – A teenager is dead and another is injured following three reports of shots fired in Peoria early Sunday morning.
Peoria Police say it started just after 12:30 a.m. One ShotSpotter alert of twelve rounds fired was reported near McBean and Merriman, another of twelve rounds fired near that same area, and a third of four rounds fired on Phoenix Drive, not far from both McBean and McArthur Highway.
One juvenile was unresponsive and pronounced dead on the scene after being found on Saint Martin Drive, not far from Phoenix.
Another juvenile was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the hand.
More details about the death are expected at some point from the Peoria County Coroner.
No suspects are in custody.
This is Peoria’s ninth homicide of the year.
