BELLEVUE, Ill. – The man who was allegedly waving a gun from a car prior to fleeing a traffic stop Friday night has been arrested.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says Austin Clark, 28, was arrested Saturday night after a report came in of a man on some property at Plank Road in Bellevue.
Clark, Watkins says, was on parole for Armed Violence when he was arrested.
Deputies were led on a slow speed chase around eight o’clock Friday night before a vehicle stopped on Interstate 474 at Maxwell Road.
While deputies talked with a woman in the car, Clark allegedly escaped and ran into a wooded area.
Watkins says Clark was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation, and will be booked on what he said was “numerous charges” when he’s put in jail.
The woman was also taken into custody.
