PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria-based organization that aids Ukraine in its war effort is still going strong, and about to hit a milestone.
US Ambulance for Ukraine was founded last year by OSF HealthCare Executive Chris Manson. The organization’s mission is to send ambulances and other emergency vehicles to aid on the front lines of the war.
On June 12th, the organization received six ambulances donated by Arkansas-based Southern Paramedic. The six will include the 50th donated ambulance since March of 2022. The ambulances will be part of the 9th shipment of ambulances and other vehicles sent to Europe later this summer.
“When we blessed the first ambulance outside of OSF HealthCare headquarters in downtown Peoria in March of 2022, we had no idea 15 months later we would still be at it. The need is still great and, thankfully, so is the generosity of so many Americans,” said Manson.
In addition to ambulances and fire engines, the organization is now beginning to send donated SUVs to Ukraine. Manson says those will be used to transport medical staff on the battlefields, and move injured away from the front lines.
