PEKIN, Ill. – One man was injured after a crash Wednesday in Pekin involving a semi-truck and a train.
Illinois State Police says the crash occurred in the area of Illinois Route 29 and Koch at around 11:40 A.M.
A semi-truck driven by 44-year-old Singh Sukhwant of Solon, OH was trying to cross train tracks on private property.
That’s where the train struck Sukhwant’s vehicle. The impact caused the trailer to be torn open, and the truck was pushed into a utility pole and natural gas structure.
The train did not derail from the tracks.
Sukhwant was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Train staff did not report any injuries.
