PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria woman accused of stabbing a man to death early Sunday morning faces an additional charge, and has bond set.
Court records indicate Lauraine Singleton, 41, now faces two counts of First-Degree Murder instead of one, and was in court Monday afternoon for a bond hearing.
Singleton is accused of stabbing a man identified by State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos’ office as James Davis, 50, at a home on Morgan Street in the vicinity of the North Valley and downtown Peoria around 2:15 Sunday morning.
Davis, whom Hoos’ office claims is an ex-boyfriend, was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Singleton, police say, was found at the scene and taken into custody, and prosecutors say a knife believed to be used was also found.
A judge set bond in the case at $1,000,000, and Singleton will be back in court June first for an arraignment.
It’s likely a grand jury will meet before that.
