PEORIA, Ill. – The arm of Peoria’s OSF HealthCare that works on advancing health care technology and education is hitting a milestone.
OSF’s “Jump Trading and Simulation” — done with the University of Illinois College of Medicine — is turning ten, and has grown considerably in that time.
The part that’s grown the most might possibly be its economic impact on Peoria.
“Over the ten year ramping period, from 2013 to 2022, Jump’s operations enhanced economic activitiy by over $103 million, and created over 600 jobs — full-time jobs,” said Joshua Lewer, Economics and Finance Department Chair, Bradley University, in results of a study Bradley commissioned for OSF.
Since then, accomplishments include the OSF On-Call telehealth service, and the creation of 3D organ modeling, among myriad others.
There’s also what’s called an advanced practice provider fellowship, which gives people looking to become advanced practice nurses hands-on training.
“As a part of the program, the fellows come to Jump every week, where they experience in-seat simulation and procedural skills, and they have the ability to practice everything from an in-grown toenail, to deliverying a really different diagnosis to a patient,” said Lisa Pierce, Vice President, Advanced Practice, OSF HealthCare.
