PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley University’s President is assuring the community that the campus is safe after a bomb threat Tuesday evening.
Stephen Standifird made a statement on Bradley’s Facebook page about the threat.
In it, he says while the threat was unfounded, the threat was taken seriously.
Standifird says police received a very specific threat of a caller claiming he was in a building with explosive devices. But a search and sweep of the building didn’t turn up any devices or the individual.
He thanked the Bradley and Peoria Police Departments for their quick response and expertise in ensuring the safety and security of the campus.
Standifird adds the threat and the subsequent emergency response may cause anxiety, stress, and fear on the campus and that counseling services are available for affected students.
He says he is “confident in the safety of campus” and the investigation continues.
