PEORIA, Ill. – An East Peoria man was arrested early Sunday morning on weapons charges.
Peoria Police says they were informed of an armed subject in the parking lot of a business at Jefferson and Harrison Streets just before 4:30 A.M.
The subject was identified at 19-year-old Trayvis Coats.
Officers watched Coats get into a vehicle and drive away without turning on the headlights.
The vehicle was pulled over at Jefferson and William Kumpf, where a loaded handgun was found inside the vehicle during a search.
Coats was arrested on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
