PEORIA, Ill. – A year after he was arrested for allegedly killing his grandmother, a judge says the accused is mentally fit enough to stand trial.
Peoria County Court records indicate a judge made that ruling Thursday in the case of Cody Krause, 29.
He faces six counts of First-Degree Murder for the death a year ago Friday of Glenda Rusterholz, 73.
Krause claimed at the time voices in his head made him beat his grandmother to death with a hammer at a West Peoria home. But, he also told investigators the voices stopped after the attack, and that “I became a monster.”
Another hearing in the case is scheduled for June 1. Krause is expected to return now to to the Peoria County Jail.
