PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man was arrested on weapons charges early Monday morning after being found asleep in his vehicle.
Peoria Police says they responded to the intersection of Knoxville and Giles just after midnight on reports of a male sleeping behind the wheel in traffic.
The male was identified by officers as 18-year-old Tavion Young after making contact with him.
A search of Young turned up a handgun on him that was reportedly stolen.
He was arrested on charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and No Valid FOID Card.
Young was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
