PEORIA, Ill. — The calendar may say it’s still winter, but there’s a chance of spring-like thunderstorms on Wednesday in Central Illinois.
“We could see a couple of isolated severe cells after lunch time this (Wednesday) afternoon. Wind gusts of 60 miles an hour are the primary concern,” says 25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins.
Collins says the threat of a tornado is low, but it’s not zero…which means the area could see a couple of weak spin ups.
Rainfall amounts will range from an inch to an inch and a half, with isolated 2 inch totals, Collins adds.
Behind this weather system, strong winds and falling temperatures are in the forecast for Thursday.
