PEORIA, Ill. – A grand jury in Peoria County filed charges in a number of cases during their weekly meeting Tuesday.
The grand jury charged Val Burks (pictured above), 30, three times with Falsely Making a Terrorist Threat. Burks, according to the charging documents, made the first threat January 19th in the morning hours. He’s also accused of making two more threats — both on January 28th. One occurred in the early morning hours, another in the early afternoon — both while parents, teachers, and children were in town for a music education conference.
Burks is jailed on $100,000 bond and will be arraigned Thursday.
Nyla Brackenridge, 21, was charged with counts of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. She wasn’t charged with Battery, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and having no valid FOID card, additional charges she was arrested on earlier in the month. She was arrested February 7th after a report of shots fired in the area of North Knollridge, as a woman and a friend were leaving a vehicle.
Brackenridge was arrested a few hours later in the area of Lexington Hill Apartments during a traffic stop, where a gun was believed to be found in the vehicle.
Brackenridge is jailed, and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
A Peoria County grand jury Tuesday charged Tyler Williams, 26, with one count of Child Pornography. The charging document indicates around January 28th, Williams had a photo in his possession of a child he should have known to be under the age of 13, but described to be in a setting that would be called a “lewd exhibition.”
Williams was previously released from custody after posting bond. He is scheduled to be back in court Thursday for arraignment.
