TOULON, Ill. – We know more about an officer-involved shooting over the weekend in nearby Stark County that claimed the life of a Toulon man.
Illinois State Police are identifying the victim as Rodney Williams, 66.
So far, State Police officials say it’s believed a special operations unit from Henry County showed up at his apartment near Olive and Commercial Streets in Toulon around 6:30 Saturday morning.
When they did, Williams allegedly swung a machete at them, causing them to open fire.
Williams was pronounced dead at an area hospital, and the State Police Division of Criminal Investigation is still looking into the matter.
