EAST PEORIA, Ill. – The East Peoria City Council has approved of a resolution in a salary dispute involving the city’s police officers.
Council members Tuesday approved of an arbitrator’s decision that gives officers retroactive back pay equaling 2.25% annual pay raises for a contract from May of 2019, to last April.
25 News reports the arbitrator heard both sides in the dispute in August of 2020, but didn’t hand down a decision until December of last year.
The deal also approves longevity pay of two percent for every three years of service, until they reach 15 years.
Salaries for the last year of the contract would range from $48,665 for a first year officer, to $87,475 for officers with more than three years of service.
A new contract is expected to be negotiated soon.
