PEORIA, Ill. — Thousands of families can thank OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois for saving the lives of their kids.
And, for 22 years, John Riley with sister station 93.3 The Drive, has been raising money and awareness for the Peoria hospital.
“You can pick and choose from a lot of things, and everybody’s organization is worthy of your support, but something that gets into everyone’s life in Central Illinois, is OSF Children’s Hospital…if you haven’t had a kid in the hospital, you know someone who has, it’s something unique to this area,” Riley says.
On Friday, the Drive for Miracles Radio-thon will be from a new location.
“In a post-COVID, we’re still kind of working all that stuff out, because they still have restrictions at the hospital…we have been doing it here in the studio, we’re going to be over at the new OSF building down on Adams Street. So, kind of a new location, but the same old people will be involved in raising the money, so that will be the same,” Riley says.
Riley and Drive co-host Nancy Flagg will be taking pledges with the 22nd Drive for Miracles all day Friday (12/9) starting at 6 a.m.
The radio-thon has raised millions of dollars for life-saving services at OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois over the years.
Riley says 100% of the money raised here, stays here.
“It goes directly to the hospital, our hospital, in Peoria. It doesn’t go to the International Childrens’ Health Fund or anything, all local, all your funding is directed here locally, and that’s what makes the difference,” Riley says.
