PEORIA, Ill. – A man whose listed address is in Mississippi has pleaded not guilty to charges he killed his wife and stepson in West Peoria almost a month ago.
Peoria County Court records indicate Rickey Payne, 34, pleaded not guilty Thursday morning to six counts of First Degree Murder.
Payne allegedly shot and killed his 32-year-old wife Quardreka September 29th inside a home near North Cedar Avenue and West Manor Parkway.
He then shot and killed Cael Thornton, 8, a judge at a bond hearing said, after the boy seemingly “got in the way”.
Payne remains in jail on $5 million bond, and could go to trial as soon as December 12th.
