PEORIA, Ill. – Illinois’ transportation secretary — and a Peoria resident — says the latest round of state capital construction project money is being released, and Peoria will get some of it for an important project.
Omer Osman says $1.2 million will be coming to Peoria for the reconstruction of Glen Avenue.
“I’m proud to say that we’ve kept our commitment to get these funds to you within three years,” said Osman, in Peoria Thursday.
The $250 million round of funding that’s a part of “Rebuild Illinois” is from a 2019 increase in the state’s gasoline tax.
“Anyone who lives here knows how much we need improvement in Glen Avenue, and some other roads in the Peoria area,” said Peoria County board member Linda Daley (R-Dist. 11).
Previous allocations have done work like improving Springfield Road in Tazewell County, for example.
