PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police were called just before 9 p.m. Tuesday to NE Madison Avenue, near Taft Homes, by a ShotSpotter alert indicating 5 rounds were fired.
Calls were also received of a potential gunshot victim.
Peoria Public Information Officer Semone Roth said when officers arrived, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound on NE Adams, in the area of NE Washington Street.
Officers started life saving measures until medical personnel arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital.
The victim’s injuries were described as life threatening.
The Peoria Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Neighborhood Services Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
PPD has no suspect information.
