PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters will get a raise, after a vote from City Council Tuesday night.
Members of Peoria Firefighters Local 50 will get 2% pay increases this year, plus a $4,000 signing bonus and increased paramedic stipends.
In 2023, fire personnel will receive a 2% increase plus a personal day.
In 2024 and 2025, firefighters will get a 2.5% increase in each of the last two years of the four year contract.
The agreement covers a contract period retroactive from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2025.
At-large council member Zach Oyler was the only no vote because firefighters are not required to live in the city.
“I firmly believe that until our employees live in our community and the City of Peoria, it has a negative effect on our neighborhoods,” Oyler said.
