SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – More new COVID-19 cases are being reported in Illinois, but not at the levels seen in previous weeks.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says 93 Illinois counties are now at high or medium levels of “community spread” of the virus — down from 97 counties in the previous week.
Peoria and Tazewell Counties remain at “medium” after spending weeks on the “high” side, while Woodford County continues at “low,” according to the Centers for Disease Control.
The state says 30,762 new cases were reported last week, also down from previous weeks. 59 people died.
The state says 1,413 people are in hospitals because of the virus, down about 50 from the week before. About ten percent of the patients are in Intensive Care Units.
