PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Fire crews were called just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home on NE Glendale Avenue, between Main and Hamilton on reports of a natural gas leak.
Fire Battalion Chief Scott Strum said first responders found a “high concentration” of natural gas inside, forcing the evacuation of the home and five others nearby.
Two adults and four children, as well as a dog and a cat made it out safely. The Red Cross helped find temporary housing for the family.
Neighbors were allowed to return to their homes after about 45 minutes.
No firefighter injuries were reported at the scene.
