WASHINGTON, Ill. – The family dog is being credited with alerting the rest of the family to a fire this morning in Washington.
Washington Fire Chief Brett Brown says the blaze broke out around 6:00 a.m. near North Main Street and Victoria Drive.
Brown says the dog barking alerted the residents to the fire, and they were able to escape safely.
25 News reports the fire started in a backyard shed but spread to the home quickly.
No damage estimate is available and no official cause has been released.
