MORTON, Ill. — With just weeks to go until primary elections in Illinois, one Republican candidate for Governor spent a good portion of Friday in Central Illinois trying to make his case.
Richard Irvin attended events in Bloomington-Normal and in Morton Friday with protestors turning out to both events.
According to 25 News, newer polls suggest Irvin is lagging well behind fellow GOP rival Darren Bailey, perhaps as much as 15 points.
Irvin has insisted, “a vote for Bailey is a vote for Pritzker”, suggesting the incumbent Democratic Governor, J.B. Pritzker secretly backs the Bailey campaign.
Many critics of Irvin insist his campaign tactics against fellow Republicans have been far too harsh and untruthful.
Illinois’ primary elections are scheduled for June 28, 2022.
